Mari Faust is a Senior point guard for the LB girls basketball team. Mari scored her 1000th career point in an overtime loss to WT Woodson this January. On the season, she averaged 11ppg, 5rpg, 3.5apg, and 5spg and was voted 2nd Team All-District in the Patriot District. She also recently committed to continue her education and play basketball next year at Emmanuel College in Massachusetts.
Dylan Nguyen is a Senior captain for the LB boys swim and dive team. Dylan has broken the backstroke record TWICE this season. He has also led all three boys’ relays to States and helped the 200 Medley Relay team break the LB school record with a time that also earned the AAC time for the season. He is planning to attend the Naval Academy next fall, which speaks volumes to his undeniable work ethic and motivation.
Graydon Lavellee is a state auto qualifier in the 55m hurdles. He is the 5th fastest hurdler in the state of Virginia. Graydon is also the 2020 Patriot District Champion in the 55m hurdles/800m relay. Graydon is Lake Braddock’s 6th All-Time hurdler with a time of 7.62. Graydon works tremendously hard as both a student and an athlete.
Sydney Cha has been a Varsity member of the Bruin Air Rifle team for the past 2 years. At a recent match in the Potomac High School Rifle League, Sydney scored a 294 out of 300 in the Prone, Standing and Kneeling positions. Sydney came in first place out of the group of 47 athletes at the match. The current league record is 299 out of 300. Sydney works tremendously hard as both a student and an athlete.
The Lake Braddock girls cross country team won the VHSL 6A State Championship by 8 points over John Champe High School. This is the girls 4th title in 5 years and 14th overall state championship. Leading the way were Junior Sophie Willis and Sophomore Lexie Hague who finished all state. Senior Emilia Doran was third for the Bruins. Kayla Nocerito, Caroline Fleenor, Sophia Rossen and Amelia Bradecamp rounded out the scoring. Senior Brianna Krug, Lexie Scarber, Mary Bruniany and freshman Madison Inscoe were the alternates. With 6 of the first 7 runners returning, the future looks bright.
Austin is a Senior Defensive Back (DB) and Kicker. He is an outstanding example of our football core values. He is a selfless player and one of our top performers this season. He practices and plays for his teammates. Austin earned 1st Team Patriot District honors for DB and Kicker. Austin also intercepted a pass in overtime, against Mount Vernon, to seal the win for the football team in the region semifinals. He has a total of 7 interceptions this season and 2 “pic 6’s” in the month of November.
Mason has been a four year starter as a member of the LBSS Golf Team. He is a leader for the team both on and off the golf course. His consistent solid play, willingness to build the team's capacity for success, and his passion drives both his personal and team goals. Mason finished fourth in the Region Tournament and will represent LBSS at the VHSL State Tournament as an individual on October 14, 2019.
Erin has choreographed and taught the team advanced dances, sidelines, warm-ups,and more! She is quick to praise fellow dancers, is always positive and fun-loving with everyone. She works extremely hard to keep team morale high and is a true leader!
Billy Edwards: Billy Edwards has thrown 13 td passes and for 1100 yards and only 1 interception in September. He was voted a team captain as a junior and is a member of the Lake Braddock Football Leadership Council. He leads himself everyday through his actions and hard work. He is a big time player and a great teammate!
Natalie Park: Natalie Park is a Senior Captain and 3 year varsity player. She is our center midfielder and helps distribute the ball and builds our attack with her excellent speed and stick skills. Natalie has 4 goals and 4 assists on the season. During the month of September Natalie lead us to 4 victories and 1 very close game against a very strong Fairfax squad.
Joe Murray: Joe has rushed for 303 yards and has scored 5 touchdowns in 2 games. Joe demonstrates true leadership qualities as an active member of the Lake Braddock Leadership Council and team captain of the varsity football team. He is a high energy player that brings the juice to every practice and team event. He is also a state champion in wrestling and strives to make those around him better.
Macy Burk: Macy is a leader on and off the court, athletically and vocally. THe volleyball team looks to her in times of need and she is always there to give advice or get a timely kill. She is a model example of how a high school athlete should behave off the court. She is extremely involved with the volleyball program and the Lake Braddock SS community.
